Joe Ferguson assumes leadership of Ada Kiwanis Club
Ada Kiwanis Club officers, who were elected in May, assumed their year-long duties today.
They include Joe Ferguson, president; Marlene Hoorman, vice president; Jon Umphress, secretary; and Bryan Marshall, treasurer. Harold Friesner and Jack Jeffery, immediate past president, will be board members along with the officers.
Joe Ferguson joined Kiwanis in 2003. He previously served as vice president and president of the club, which has as its motto, “Serving children of the world, one child at a time.”
The club’s big fundraisers are a spaghetti dinner (coming up Nov. 15) and a pancake and sausage meal in the spring. The next major event for the club is its sponsorship of the Halloween parade in Ada, which is set for Oct. 22 this year.
The service club meets weekly, usually in McIntosh Center.
