At last the Record’s agitation for protection for people crossing Johnson Street is to bear fruit. The batteries are in for an electric alarm bell to be placed on a post at the dangerous crossing. In watchman Voelker’s building is a box-socket for his signal flag, so connected with the bell and battery that when he removes his flag to warn Main street traffic it automatically sets into operation the electric bell at Johnson Street and it will continue to ring until the flag is replaced by the watchman. This will certainly lessen the constant danger to travel on that crossing.
