It’s ONU vs. Wisconsin team in volleyball tourney
The No. 20-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball team will travel to Grand Rapids, Mich., and will face No. 18 Wisconsin-Whitewater in the First Round of the 64-team NCAA Division III Tournament on Thursday.
Times for the four first round matches will be released later in the week.
The Polar Bears (22-7 overall) earned the Ohio Athletic Conference's automatic bid after winning the OAC Tournament title on Saturday under 28th-year head coach Kate Witte.
The Warhawks (24-7 overall) qualified for the NCAA Tournament as an at-large after falling to No. 4 Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament finals.
With a victory over the Warhawks, the Polar Bears would face either tournament host and No. 1-ranked Calvin (Mich.) or Greenville (Pa.) in the Second Round on Friday.
The other half of the bracket features No. 14 Hope (Mich.) facing DePauw (Ind.) and No. 3 Wittenberg playing Carthage (Wis.) in the two other First Round matches.
The Third Round will be on Saturday with a spot in the NCAA III Quarterfinals in Grand Rapids, Mich., on the line.
ONU will be making its 31st appearance at the NCAA III Tournament.
