By Cort Reynolds
PARKWAY - The Ada varsity wrestling squad competed at the 15-team Parkway Holiday Invitational meet Saturday.
Ada finished 11th at the annual event with 56 points. Celina won the team title with 215 points, followed in second by host Parkway (200).
The Bulldogs were only able to have three wrestlers compete due to injuries. Ada senior Noah Arnett went 4-1 in the heavyweight division to finish a strong second.
"We were winning in six of the seven matches we lost when our wrestlers got pinned," explained Ada first-year head coach Eric Perkins. "Overall, we had 19 takedowns compared to our opponent's four."
Arnett won each of his first four matches by pin to advance to the championship bout. He was pinned by Seth Huston of Celina at 35 seconds in the final round.
Arnett is now 7-2 this season.
Arnett pinned Tyler Durham of West Carrollton at 1:34 in his initial match. He then pinned Hicksville's Caleb Begley in 1:16. In his third preliminary round match, he took down Gaven Nash of Celina in 2:46 to win Pool C with a 3-0 record.
In the semifinals, Arnett pinned WC's Bobby Shaw at 1:10.
Bulldog freshman Jermey Cameron finished fourth at the 113 lb. class. Cameron went 2-3 on the day, winning two matches by pin.
Ada sophomore Colton Biederman also finished 2-3 in the 120 lb. bracket to come in fourth. He won one match by pin and the other by a 9-2 decision.
