Ken Lauria, Ada's newest council member
By Monty Siekerman
Who is Ken Lauria, the new village councilman appointed to fill the unexpired term of Beth Fenton who recently resigned to help the Red Cross?
Ken has both an engineering degree and law degree, is part owner of a company, and is probably best known locally for his work helping to organize and raise money for the Ada Dog Park.
He is married to Cathy Cole, general manager and part owner of Cole Motor Sales. Ken and Cathy probably will be the first married couple to serve on Ada Village Council at the same time.
Ken, who grew up in the Philadelphia area, holds an engineering degree from Villanova and a law degree from Brooklyn School of Law.
He is director of information services for a medical billing company in Lima and is part owner of KML Technology, Bedford, N.Y. The firm provides 911 phone systems, mostly in the East.
He said he hopes to “continue the excellent work” of the council and hopes his background in business will be helpful to the local government. He has lived in Ada the past 8 years.
He and Cathy were two of a handful of people who got the dog park organized, planned, funded, and up and running. The park, located on East Lehr Avenue, opened in May and has been well used. The off-leash dog park is the length of a football field with fenced in areas for small and large dogs. It is on property owned by the park board.
Outgoing councilwoman Beth Fenton’s future plans were reported in the Ada Icon on Friday. Her picture and story can be found here: http://www.adaicon.com/news/201812/beth-fenton-enters-challenging-and-re....
