Knight spurt lances Ada boy cagers

CONVOY - For the first 10 minutes at league favorite Crestview Friday night, the Ada boys' basketball team hung close, trailing just 15-13.
But then the Knights reeled off a 25-2 run over the next six minutes to end the half with a 40-15 lead, and they cruised to a 65-35 Northwest Conference victory.
The Bulldog boys fell to 2-11 overall and 1-2 in the NWC with the defeat, while the Knights improved to 11-1 and 3-1 in league play with the decisive victory.
Knight Kalen Etzler led the victors with 17 points and seven boards. Derick Dealey contribued 16 points. Carson Kreischer netted nine points while Wade Sheets added eight.
Bulldog senior post Connor Frazier compiled eight points, six rebounds and blocked three shots to lead the purple and gold.
Ada junior wing Phillip Coulson tallied seven points along with four caroms. Senior post Ethan Hall netted six points. Sophomore guard Zac Swaney added five points.
Sophomore Micah Cook scored four points while Ty Miller added three markers and four rebounds. Soph playmaker Brandon Hull contributed two points and five assists.
Crestview out-rebounded Ada, 24-22.
Ada hit on 14 of 42 field goal tries (33 percent) and sank three of 15 triples (20 percent). The Bulldogs were successful on four attempts at the charity stripe.
Crestview drilled 24 of 51 field goals (47 percent), including eight of 20 treys (40 percent). The Knights converted nine foul shots.

Ada's road game at county rival Hardin Northern (2-8) Saturday night was postponed due to inclement weather. A makeup date has been scheduled for Feb. 21.
