2018 Ada outstanding business of the year - 302 Carry Out
“Stop as a stranger and leave as a friend. This place is amazing.”
That’s just one complimentary comment on the 302 Carry Out Facebook from a new customer. And, comments like that one, plus “the thrill of the grill,” (aka porkyburgers), makes the carryout one of the most popular Ada businesses.
So much so that it was nominated and selected as the 2018 Ada Area Chamber of Commerce outstanding business of the year. The business of the year announcement was made during the chamber annual dinner meeting on Feb. 19 at Community Health Professionals.
Family owned for 32 years, Beth Gossard, store matriarch says, “They’re just good kids,” referring to her business partners and adult children, Mara, Mona and Marlin.
She adds, “We could never do it without each of you, our customers.”
302 Carry Out, at 302 S. Main St., a convenience store, deli and grocery, is open 5 a.m. to midnight daily, with the exceptions of Level 3 weather alerts: “Due to Level 3, we will close at 10 p.m. Everyone please be safe and stay warm,” read the Facebook announcement from Jan. 19, when all of Ada closed for the weekend.
In addition, during sweet corn season you can pick up Suter’s sweet corn from a wagon near the street.
But, perhaps the most popular signature of the business is its noon-time grilling, which is seasonal and features its famous "porkyburger." And, based upon this winter’s weather, it couldn’t start too soon.
