Lincolnview lances Bulldog boys

MIDDLE POINT - After a close first quarter, host Lincolnview
outscored Ada 31-11 over the middle periods to post a 59-34 win in Northwest Conference boys basketball action Friday night.  

The Bulldogs dropped to 3-15 overall and 2-4 in the NWC with the defeat. Meanwhile, the Lancers improved to 10-8 and 5-2 in league play after the victory.  

The Lancers led just 12-8 after the opening stanza. But Lincolnview held Ada to three second quarter points to grab a 26-11 intermission bulge.

The hosts extended the lead to an insurmountable 43-19 after three periods. Ada scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to limit the final margin to 25.
Sophomore playmaker Brandon Hull led the Bulldogs with 14 points.

"Lincolnview outworked us in every way possible," said Ada third-year head coach Dre White. "We knew we would have to match their physical toughness, and we were unable to do so.

"A lot of credit to Brett (Hammons) and his kids; they play the right way and play extremely hard."

Senior Zane Miller led the Lancers with 14 points, while classmates Ethan Kemler and Alek Bowersock each scored 10 points.

Ada found the net on 13 of 42 two-point field goal tries (30 percent), and they splashed two of 10 three-point attempts (20 percent). Overall, the hosts connected on 15 of 52 floor shots (29 percent).

The Bulldogs converted just two of nine from the foul line (22 percent).

Overall, Lincolnview drained 25 of 62 field goals (40 percent), including 21 for 50 inside the arc (42 percent). Outside the arc the Lancers made four of 12 (33 percent). The victors also canned five of seven shots from the foul line (71 percent).

The Bulldogs were out-rebounded by the Lancers, 34-17. Ada committed 18 turnovers while Lincolnview was guilty of 21 miscues.

Lincolnview also defeated the Bulldog junior varsity, 54-33. Trent Ennis led the Ada reserves with 10 points.

Ada visits league-leading Columbus Grove (13-4, 5-0 NWC) and former purple and gold head coach Chris Sautter Friday evening, February 15. Ada then hosts Lima Temple Christian (7-10) in a non-league contest next Saturday, Feb. 16.
