Meet the Vancrest of Ada spotlight couple
Helen and Richard Laubis are the Vancrest of Ada residents in the March spotlight.
Here’s some information about the couple:
They were married on Feb. 11, 1951, and have three children, Lou Ann, Barbara, and Mike.
Helen and Richard enjoy playing Bingo with the other residents, listening to musicians, and going out to eat on Vancrest’s men’s and women’s lunch outings.
Helen went Kenton High School and for one year attended BGSU. She enjoys watching OSU basketball; she played in high school as well.
She enjoys doing crafts such as making paper flowers and flowers on velvet.
Before retiring, Helen was a crafter and had a booth in Shipshewana selling merchandise from May to October each year.
She also had a quilt shop in Mt. Victory called The Hen House.
Helen said when she was younger, she was a wonderful roller skater and ice skater and she enjoyed making up her own routines.
Her bucket list includes jumping out of an airplane.
Richard went to school in Hepburn. He enjoyed fishing and pheasant hunting.
Richard worked at an elevator business in Hepburn and said that was his favorite job.
