Ada's Mackenzie Wills OAC women's tennis player of the week
Ada HS grad and ONU junior women's tennis player Mackenzie Wills has been awarded Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week kudos for the first time in her Ohio Northern career, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Last week, Wills posted a perfect 10-0 overall record, leading the Polar Bears to an undefeated 5-0 mark against Baldwin Wallace, Franciscan, Muskingum, Marietta, and Earlham (Ind.). The junior went 5-0 in singles play in the No. 2-5 roles and 5-0 in doubles action in the No. 1-3 slots.
With her victories last week, Wills leads ONU with a 44-7 overall record, a 22-3 singles mark, and a 22-4 doubles record this season. She now owns 127 career wins, which ties for ninth on the all-time victories list.
The announcement marks the first time Wills has been named OAC Player of the Week.
Ohio Northern (17-4 Overall, 5-0 OAC) will return to action this Wednesday when they travel to Capital for a midweek OAC showdown. Match time is slated for 3:30 p.m. at the Whetstone Park of Roses in Colombus.
