MEDIA RELEASE––The United Way of Hardin County held its third Student Leadership-United meeting of the 2025–26 school year on December 3 at Ridgemont High School. The session featured a presentation from Amanda Raines of the Ohio State University Extension Office, who spoke to students about strategies for managing stress.

FROM ONU.EDU__Dr. Kendall (Ken) Baker, Hon. D. ’11, served with distinction as Ohio Northern University’s 10th president from 1999 until 2011. He was named president emeritus upon his retirement. He passed away in Colorado on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at age 83.

Life of scholarship
Dr. Baker came from a military family and wanted to follow suit, but vision trouble derailed his plans. He decided to pursue a life of scholarship. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Maryland in 1963, followed by a master’s and doctoral degrees from Georgetown University in 1966 and 1969, respectively.

RAWSON–The visiting Ada High School girls basketball team defeated Cory-Rawson 31-21 in a defensive contest on Monday, December 8.

The Bulldog girls improved to 4-2 overall with the non-conference road victory. With three consecutive wins, this is Ada’s best six-game start in several seasons.

Cory-Rawson fell to 1-5 after the home loss.

Ada led 8-6 after the first quarter as four players scored two points apiece. The Bulldogs pulled ahead 17-10 at halftime behind six points in the second stanza by freshman Te’a Griffith.

VFW Flag retirement ceremony by the numbers

RAWSON––The Ada High School wrestling team began its season by competing in the annual Cory-Rawson Duals event on Saturday, December 6.

Ada and event host C-R each posted 2-3 records in the round-robin tournament, where each team wrestled five dual matches.

Bulldog junior Layne Simon registered a perfect 5-0 record on the day in the 175 lbs. class with three pins to pace Ada.

Bulldogs Case Vieira (106), Carter Dunlap (113) and senior Silas Riblet (126) each posted strong records of 4-1 at the event.
