Ohio Northern will open OAC play when Mount Union comes to the ONU Sports Center on Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest. ONU has won its last four OAC openers, including an 86-84 win at Capital last year. The Polar Bears are coming off a thrilling 65-62 victory at Thomas More (Ky.) on Wednesday.

Ohio Northern will host the 38th annual ONU Wrestling Invitational on Saturday at the ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse ... 12 schools are expected to join ONU in the tournament, which will be a flighted, double-elimination event with the standard 10 NCAA weight classes ... NCAA Division III schools Adrian (Mich.), Alma (Mich.), Heidelberg, Mount Saint Joseph, Muskingum, Ohio Wesleyan, Otterbein, Thomas More (Ky.), Trine (Ind.), Washington & Lee (Va.) and Wilmington and NCAA Division II foe Tiffin are expected to join Ohio Northern at the event.

It's Mercantile on Main decked out for the holidays

Mercantile on Main, 117 S. Main, will have a drawing for a $25 gift certificate during Merry on Main in downtown Ada on Monday evening.

Jodi Callahan and Mindy Altstaetter, owners of the new store, invite all to visit their establishment and enter the drawing while shopping along Main Street from 5-7:30 p.m.

The 6th annual Merry on Main, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, includes a live nativity scene, Santa, hot chocolate, a choir singing, live reindeer, store specials, and more.

Darlene Bowers and her son, Ben, built a Christmas tree out of books, which is appropriate for an Ada Public Library window display during this time of year. The tree is built of books with pages cut into the shapes of ornaments and is topped with a book titled “Huckleberry Christmas.”
