Vihn Thai OAC men’s tennis player of the week
Sophomore Vinh Thai (Galloway/St. Charles) has been tabbed the final Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the 2018-19 campaign, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Last week, Thai posted a 2-0 record at No. 1 singles and a 1-1 record at No. 1 doubles against the top two teams in the final OAC standings, John Carroll and Otterbein. With his two singles victories, the sophomore completed an undefeated 5-0 season in singles play against conference opposition.
Thai now ranks second on the team with 16 singles victories and 28 overall victories this season. His 12 doubles victories currently stand fourth on the Polar Bears' roster.
With the announcement, Thai receives his second career OAC Player of the Week honor after garnering the same accolade on April 30, 2018.
The third-seeded Polar Bears begin their quest for an OAC Tournament title tomorrow afternoon with a quarterfinal round matchup against sixth-seeded Marietta. Match time is set for 4:30 p.m. at the Westwood Tennis and Fitness Center in Lima.
