BEREA — Junior Anthony McFadden completed 26-of-44 passes for a career-high 392 yards and two touchdowns to lead Ohio Northern in a 48-41 loss at No. 24-ranked Baldwin Wallace on Saturday afternoon at Finnie Stadium.
The Polar Bears (5-4 overall, 4-4 Ohio Athletic Conference) also got 8 receptions for 173 yards and a score from senior Chad Rex and 101 yards rushing and three touchdowns from freshman Brock Martin.
The Polar Bears will wrap up their 2018 season next Saturday with a 1:30 p.m. contest at Heidelberg in the annual Bendekovic Bowl rivalry game.
For the 20th time in program history, the 20th-ranked Ohio Northern women's volleyball team has claimed the OAC Tournament title after defeating third-seeded Muskingum 3-1 in the OAC Tournament Finals held inside the ONU Sports Center in Ada Saturday afternoon.
With the victory, the Polar Bears climb to 22-7 overall on the season. Northern also secures a spot in their third consecutive NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Tournament with the Ohio Athletic Conference's automatic qualifying bid.
BEXLEY — Sophomore Beelal Hasan (Westerville/Thomas) scored with 51 seconds gone in the second overtime period to lift the fifth-seeded Ohio Northern men's soccer team past top-seeded Capital 2-1 on Friday evening in the semifinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament at Bernlohr Stadium.
The Polar Bears (13-7-1 overall) advance to the finals on Saturday night at 7 pm at John Carroll, while the Crusaders bow out of the tournament with a 14-4-0 record.
Senior William Velotta had five saves in goal for the Polar Bears but came up big in several key spots to keep Ohio Northern in the match.
