Ada's latest news

Ada Icon viewers are invited to Bluffton on Saturday to watch the 100-plus unit parade (which includes the Ada High School homecoming queen Allison Howard). The event is the 28th annual Bluffton Blaze of Lights.

Several events are planned around the parade. Here's the schedule:

Phil Compton has David Greene of NPR's Morning Edition sign his book. Greene, son-in-law of Peter and Jeanne Previte, had a book signing at Jeanne's Kitchen on Nov. 26.

Michael Harnishfeger, Ada police chief, provided the Icon with the Ada police call logs from Nov. 17 to Nov. 23.

They are provided in the attachment at the bottom of this story.

Our Thanksgiving dinner invitation list included favorite poets Lewis Carroll and Robert Frost. Neither accepted, but places were set.

Set, just in case of late arrivals.

Hoping for Mister Carroll’s presence, for days prior to Thanksgiving lines from “Oh, oysters come and walk with us… along the briny beach”…  chanted frequently around our cheery home.

It didn’t work.

It didn’t work, even though we ordered a fresh pint of the delicacy from The Dough Hook and informed our poet friend of the menu: Oyster Stew.

The only sign of Mister Frost on Thanksgiving morn was a dusty residue of white stuff on the lawn.

Here’s our suggestion: Make trip to New Leaf Landscape/Garden Center’s Christmas Shoppe, 0395 State Route 235, Ada.

As the sign outside reads “Candy and lots of decorations.” That’s just for starters. You’ll also find:
• Country and rustic decorations
• Snowmen • Santas • Angels • Artifical trees
• Chocolate cluster candy • Greenery

In short, everything you need for your holiday decorating is in the Christmas Shoppe.
