Ada spikers downed by Grove in NWC opener

COLUMBUS GROVE - The visiting Ada volleyball team lost in straight sets at Columbus Grove in the Northwest Conference opener Tuesday evening.
The purple and gold fell to 4-5 overall and 0-1 in the NWC with the 25-21, 25-23, 25-15 defeat. Defending league co-champion Grove improved to 4-2 and 1-0 in the NWC with the win.
Junior middle Megan Light topped the Bulldogs with eight kills and 17 digs.
Junior Miranda Wills hit for six kills and hustled up a dozen digs to go with four aces.
Senior libero Kendal Guagenti came up with 17 digs. Sophomore setter Kirsten Poling passed out 13 assists and hit for three kills.
Sophomore Aubrey Madison contributed five kills and three blocks.
The Lady Bulldog reserves also lost, 2-0.
Ada (0-4 home) resumes NWC play Thursday, September 12 when it hosts local rival Bluffton (5-3, 1-0 NWC). The Pirates beat Delphos Jefferson 3-0 in their league opener Tuesday.
