ASHLAND - The Ada girls soccer team ended its season with an 8-1 loss at powerhouse Ashland Crestview in Div. III sectional first round play Tuesday evening.
The defeat finished the Lady Bulldog season with a record of 3-13-1. Second-seeded AC improved to 15-1-1 with the victory.
The favored Lady Cougars advance to the sectional final round, where they will host 11th seed Willard Thursday, Oct. 17.
The 10th-seeded Bulldogs were able to hold potent AC scoreless for the first 20 minutes before the Cougars broke loose to build a 3-0 lead.
Ada sophomore Timber Blankenship then scored after dribbling through the AC back line. She sent a laser shot inside the near post into the back of the net to pull the Bulldogs within 3-1.
AC answered with a goal to restore the lead to three and make it 4-1 at halftime. The second half was all Cougars as they added four more scores to win going away.
The Cougars out-shot 10th-seeded Ada, 43-14. Bulldog senior keeper Sidney Gossard made 25 saves in goal.
AC is now 8-0 at home this season. Crestview's only loss of the season came in their previous match Oct. 12 at fellow power Liberty Center (12-3), by a 2-1 score.
