Madison Wright blows out her birthday candles on Dec. 25
Madison Wright, an Ada High School senior, was born on Dec. 25, 2001. Not knowing too many people with a Christmas Day birthday, we were curious ow she spends the day. Here’s part of our interview:

Icon: What’s your first-ever birthday you can remember?
Madison: This is a hard one. I might have been around 4 or 5 and we went to Disney World for Christmas. I remember watching the Christmas parade on my birthday.
Icon: When did you figure out that the date of your birth was unusual in terms of a party and or presents?
Madison: Probably closer to 3rd or 4th grade when I realized that I couldn’t do the usual things that my friends did on their birthdays. I realized that I couldn't have a birthday party on my actual birthday, or hang out with friends and I would never be at school on my birthday. Now as I am older there is still differences like my friends just combine my birthday and Christmas present together.
Icon: Do you have a traditional way that your family celebrates your birthday on Dec. 25?
Madison: Yes, we do. In the morning I open gifts at my house. Then we go to my grandma’s closer to the afternoon. By the time all of my family is done we eat a late lunch/early dinner. After we finish dinner, we celebrate my birthday, which is around 6 or 7 in the evening.
Icon: How do you distinguish birthday presents from Christmas presents?
Madison: Christmas presents I get during the day and then during the evening I receive my birthday presents. They are usual wrapped in birthday wrapping paper, as well.
Icon: Have your friends or anyone ever comments on that fact that your birthday is Dec. 25? What do they usually say to you?
Madison: My friends normally just tell me that I am lucky to have my birthday on Christmas, or they say, “You share a birthday with Jesus, that's so cool.” When other people who I am not as close to find out they are normally really shocked and just say something along the lines of “You’re a Christmas baby? I bet that is a fun day.”
Now some random questions:
Icon: What’s your favorite type of music?
Madison: Mainly pop or just today’s hits, but I also enjoy country.
Icon: Favorite musician?
Madison: My favorite musician by far is Ariana Grande.
Icon: What do you like on your pizza?
Madison: I either like chicken bacon ranch pizza, or pineapple and bacon on my pizza.
Icon: What classes are you taking this semester?
Madison: I’m taking Physics, Intro to Literature/ Intro to Film, Public Speaking/ Economics, Psychology/Sociology (as an independent study), Calculus, and Computer apps (semester class).
What organizations in school and outside of school do you participate?
Madison: Varsity Singers, Marching Band (Color Guard), Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Film Club and Book Club.
Icon: What’s the most interesting birthday present you ever received?
Madison: The most interesting birthday present I have ever received was 18 packs of gum from all of my friends.
Icon: Thanks for talking with us. We’re certain our viewers will find this interesting. Happy birthday and Merry Christmas, Madison.
