St. Rita’s Medical Center will hold its Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery Symposium Friday, Nov. 8, at the St. Rita’s Conference Center, 718 W. Market St., Lima.
It will be a day of presentations and discussion to emphasize the importance and advantages of robotic and minimally invasive surgical procedures. Registration will begin at 7 a.m., with various presentations going from 7:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

Bill and Beth Ann Bass joined an elite Ada club at this year’s Town and Gown banquet on Nov. 5. The couple received the 2019 Ada Distinguished Citizen Award. The presentation is given annually since 1957.
Their community involvement touches nearly every aspect of Ada.
The person nominating them for the honor wrote: “Bill and Beth Ann are the power couple who accurately portray the model of service through their hard work and dedicated labor to the Ada community.
Daniel A. DiBiasio, Ohio Northern University president, updates Town and Gown attendees on events at the university during the past 12 months. Bill and Beth Ann Bass were recognized as the 2019 Ada Distinguished Citizens. It was the first time since 2010 that two people received the honor. In 2010 Kendall and Toby Baker were the joint recipients.
Jaden E. Heacock, 30, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019 in Ada, Ohio.
He was born on July 17, 1989, in Lima, Ohio, to Dan E. Heacock and Lesa A. Epling. His father and step mother, Dan and Bonnie Heacock survive in Dunkirk and his mother and step father, Lesa and Tom Scott survive in Alger.
Jaden was a self-employed plumber. He was a 2008 graduate of Hardin Northern High School and a U.S. Army veteran.
The No. 10-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball earned at least a share of its 26th total and fourth consecutive OAC regular-season championship after defeating Mount Union 25-20, 25-15, 25-15 on Friday night at the ONU Sports Center.
29th-year head coach Kate Witte tallied her 19th OAC regular-season title in her final regular-season match. Ohio Northern honored Witte after the match as she has announced her retirement following the 2019 season.
