ONU goalkeeper named to all-Freshman Team for 2020
Ohio Northern goalkeeper Cole Zaferakis (Liverpool, N.Y.) was named to the InsideLacrosse.com All-Freshman Team for 2020.
Zaferakis was listed by the magazine as the nation's top freshman net-minder.
"This is a great honor and I am so happy for Cole," fifth-year head coach Nat St. Laurent said. "He had a great season. This is huge for our program, to be mentioned on a national level."
In six games this season, Zaferakis had 88 saves, a 9.01 GAA and an amazing 63.3 percent save percentage.
He made his collegiate debut in style, stopping a school record 17 shots as the Polar Bears defeated Southern Virginia 8-6. He followed that up by breaking his own record with 19 saves in a 9-5 win over Elmhurst (Ill.) the next day.
In those first two two games, the freshman stopped 36 of 47 shots on goal, an impressive save percentage of .766.
Ohio Northern went 4-2 in 2020, giving the program winning seasons in all five of its campaigns.
