Santa joined the parade Tuesday evening as part of the festivities accompanying the annual lighting of the Hardin County Courthouse for the Christmas season.
The Upper Scioto Valley Marching Band was also on hand as were stilt-walkers and numerous floats making their way around the courthouse. A large, festive crowd lined the parade route while braving temperatures in the mid-thirties. (Ken Collins photo)
The Ohio School Board Association recognized Monty Siekerman for “fair and balanced education reporting, and exemplary service to the Ada community” during a meeting of the Ada School Board earlier this month. Monty is editor of the Ada Icon.
The OSBA invites school districts across Ohio to name local reporters to the association’s Media Honor Roll each year. OSBA recognizes the honorees in its Journal magazine and on its website.

Senior Jenna Dirksen (Beavercreek/Carroll) led 13 Ohio Northern players in the scoring column with 12 points as ONU defeated area-rival Defiance 90-45 on Tuesday evening at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 3-0 overall and have now won eight consecutive home openers, dating to the 2010-11 season.
Sophomore Emily Brock added 11 points and freshman Annie Weckesser scored 10 points for Ohio Northern.
The 25-member chancel choir at the Ada United Methodist Church will present a cantata during the 10 a.m. Sunday service on Dec. 2. All are welcome.
The Christmas cantata, “Appalachian Winter” by Joseph M. Martin, will be directed by Scott Henning, who is the church’s choir director as well as Ada School’s choral director.
Noah Walters, a junior piano performance major at Ohio Northern, will be pianist.
Refreshments will be served following the program.
