Ohio Northern junior midfielder Haley Moses of Mason, Ohio, has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team for her success on the pitch and in the classroom, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday afternoon.

New Leaf Garden Center annual Christmas open house at their two stores will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday. There will be refreshments and door prizes.

K9s and their handlers from four law enforcement agencies were at the Ada Park Office on Thursday for training. The men get together twice a month for the dogs to refresh their training, practice, and let the dogs get to know one another so that if the dogs work together on a job they are familiar with each other. 

The Ada Icon reported last week that Blue Star Mothers in Hardin County were placing a box at the Ada Schools, hoping for donations that they would send to men and women in the military who were serving overseas. Ada elementary students' response to their FOCUS lesson last week (to provide pictures, cards and donations for Blue Star Mothers to send in care packages for soldiers for Christmas) has been overwhelming. The students created beautiful artwork and wrote loving letters and cards. The students and their parents have donated many items, as well. The drop off box in the high school office has been emptied once and was overflowing again on Thursday.

Under gray November skies for the past two days, Tom Lehman has been placing many America flags near the goalposts of the football field at War Memorial Park.

Incredibly, each flag represents one thousand U.S. men and women who have died in military service over the years to protect our freedoms. He does this now because of the upcoming Veterans Day and the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I in recognition of the many Americans who gave their all.
