Ada police assist in apprehension of Lima man
A Lima man was taken into custody by Hardin County Sheriff’s deputies and faces numerous charges following an incident on Thursday, July 9.
The report for the sheriff’s office follows:
At approximately 7:35 p.m. while on routine patrol on Ohio 309 near County Road 15, a deputy observed a traffic violation of a vehicle being driven west on SR 309.
Upon signaling the vehicle to stop, it continued off the road traveling around a residence and outbuildings into a field.
Upon approaching the vehicle in the field, the drive, identified as Michael Parsons, 31, of Lima, exited the car and was taken into custody.
Because of witness statements indication there may have been two occupants in the vehicle, a search ensued for a possible second person.
K-9 units from the Hardin sheriff’s office and Lima Police department, along with an aviation unit from the Ohio Highway Patrol, assisted in the search.
No other persons were found and it was later determined that the driver was the lone occupant of the vehicle.
Parsons was transported to the Multi-County Correctional Center, Marion, where he is being lodged. He faces charges including failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officers, improperly handling firearms in a vehicle and tampering with evidence.
The Ada police and Allen County Sheriff’s office assisted Hardin deputies at the scene, along with Lima police and Ohio state patrol.
