Morgan, Woods, Rush card 54s at NWC opener

DEFIANCE - The Ada golf team played its first Northwest Conference match of the season Tuesday at the Auglaize Golf Club in Defiance.
Allen East won the four-team league event with 161 strokes. Host Paulding was a close second with 165 strokes, followed by Delphos Jefferson (203) and Ada (225).
Jacob Morgan, Dexter Woods and Andrew Rush each carded a round of 54 to pace Ada. Kamron Wilkerson, Geddes Klingler and Jack Baumgartner all tallied rounds of 63 to round out the Bulldog links scores.
Logan Gallmeier of DJ was match medalist with a nine-hole score of 39. AE's Zach Miller, Elijah Lawrence and Carter Frey tied for second at 40, with teammate Noah Brown close behind (41).
AE improved to 3-0 and 1-0 in the NWC with the wins. Paulding is 2-1 (2-1 NWC) and DJ is 1-2 (0-1 NWC).
Ada (0-6, 0-1 NWC) will play next on Thursday, Aug. 13 at the Bluffton Golf Course in another four-team conference event. Columbus Grove, Crestview and Bluffton will also compete. Play is scheduled to tee off at 10 a.m.
AE plays in the Kalida Wildcat Invitational Wednesday, August 12.
