Emma J. Spradlin, 102, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020, at 8:24 a.m. surrounded by her family at Vancrest of Ada.
She was born on Feb. 27, 1918, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, to the late Morgan and Mollie (Howard) Whitaker. On Dec. 12, 1933, Emma married Frank Spradlin and he preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 2003. Frank and Emma were married for 69 years.
As I considered what to review next, I asked myself the question “what’s a horror movie the family can watch together?”
Turns out, horror doesn’t lend itself to producing those sorts of movies! But in the summer of 1975, a horror/thriller was released that you may have heard of: Jaws.
Jaws is the 7th highest-grossing movie of all-time in the United States when adjusted for inflation. It is the major breakthrough for Steven Spielberg, who continues to be a prominent figure in Hollywood 45 years later, and is the main reason lots of little ones (and I) are still skittish about going in the water.
Icon viewers:
For non-lawyers, it can be hard to excited about the law. But I'm tremendously excited about two candidates for Ohio Supreme Court, on the ballot November 3.
These candidates are Judge Jennifer Brunner and Judge John O'Donnell (each running for a separate seat). They bring an amazing wealth of experience and knowledge to the important job of Ohio Supreme Court Justice.
Even more than that, they bring a sense of fairness, compassion, and concern
for the State of Ohio. I urge everyone to vote to Judge Brunner and Judge
O'Donnell (Jennifer and John) for Ohio Supreme Court.

ADA - With basketball practice set to tip off Oct. 30, the Ada athletic department and school district moved quickly to hire a familiar face as the replacement for Dre White, who resigned Oct. 6.
Ada hired veteran local coach Jon Cook at its Oct. 14 school board meeting by a 4-1 vote. Cook previously coached the Bulldog boys varsity squad for three seasons from 1995-98 after a short stint as the junior varsity coach.
He has a varied resume of coaching at many levels, including junior high at Ada as well as collegiately.
