FDA approves Yale's new saliva-based COVID-19 test

This column is provided by the ONU HealthWise Pharmacy.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) for a saliva test for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19 infection.

This approval was granted to the Yale School of Public Health for its SalivaDirect COVID-19 diagnostic test.

The SalivaDirect test is a new method for processing saliva samples. Because the test is saliva-based and does not need reagents (critical test components for other tests that have been prone to shortages in the past), this new approval may allow for increased COVID-19 testing, according to the FDA.

There are nearly 20 million new cases each year in the U.S. alone. Protecting yourself from STIs and getting screened for STIs is important. The only way to know if you have an STI is to be tested!

Joren Kirsis improves his game through ONU esports

From the ONU website – When Ohio Northern University launched its esports program last fall, no one was quite sure what to expect.

After all, it is rare for a start-up of any variety to excel right out of the gate. Compound the growing pains of creating something new with the rigors of competition, and it’s easy to see why even professional expansion teams struggle.

Students at Ohio Northern University Child Development Center recently played a learning activity called music fence. According to June Zimmerman, director, it explores musical concepts and expressions.
