ONU political science prof's opinion piece on CNN
Robert Alexander, ONU professor of political science and founding director of the Institute for Civics and Public Policy, was featured by CNN on Sept. 21 in the cable network’s coverage of Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death.
Alexander along with David B. Cohen, professor of political science at the University of Akron, co-authored an opinion piece titled “GOP push to fill RBG’s seat could backfire spectacularly."
The two authors contend that While the GOP add an additional conservative seat on the Court, it may lead to some additional far-reaching consequences that may ultimately not serve their long-term purposes very well.
It could also secure a Biden victory and cost Republicans the Senate.
If that were to happen, expect Democrats to retaliate and use their newfound power aggressively to regain what they believe to be lost ground on the federal courts.
The piece also contends that it could also bring about major changes to the legislative process.
