Ada council will hold two meetings in executive session next week to interview potential council candidates. These sessions were set during the Oct. 20 council meeting.

Those interview meetings are set for 6:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 26, and noon, Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Letters of interest for the council mid-term vacancy are due by 4:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 23.  Letters may be hand delivered or mailed to the village office, attention Council President, or by email to [email protected].

John Bowers
John Bowers will move from his six-month instructional period effective Oct. 27. At that time, he will become a permanent employee and will receive full village benefits.

Bowers began as the water treatment plant operator on April 27.

Angela Polachek, village human resource director, wrote in a memo to council that Bowers' commitment to maintaining a high level of professionalism on a daily basis continues to be an asset to the village.

Her memo added: “He works diligently to re-familiarize himself with water treatment by utilizing knowledge of fellow village employees and colleagues in the water treatment industry." 

Michael Harnishfeger, Ada police chief, recommended to offer a conditional offer of employment as a part-time police officer to Jacob Mortimer of Lima.

Mortimer is a July 2020 graduate of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy. He also completed a background check.

Ada’s first council meeting in November is moved from Nov. 3 to Nov. 10. It continues at 6:30 p.m. and has a virtual attendance invitation to the public.

A public hearing is set for 6 p.m., prior to the Tuesday, Nov. 17, council meeting. The hearing is for public comment on the village’s proposed 2021 budget.
