SPENCERVILLE - The Ada boys soccer team went to Spencerville and rallied to post a 3-2 win over the Bearcats Monday evening in a battle for second place in the Northwest Conference.
The Bulldogs improved to 7-5 overall and 4-1 in the NWC with the win that earned them sole possession of second place behind Bluffton.
The Bearcats fell to 6-3-2 and 2-2 in NWC play with the close defeat.
"It was a nailbiter and the kids played awesome," said Ada head coach Jason Okuly. "We went down twice (1-0 and 2-1) and they fought back for the W.
"We always talk about never giving up and playing with heart, and they did that," he added.
Ada senior Jacob Poling tallied two goals to run his season total to 23. Carter Conley netted the other Bulldog goal.
Drew Long, Colton Long and Jacob Thaxton dished out Bulldog assists.
Sophomore Grant Preston made seven saves in goal, while Ian Dellifield added three stops.
Ada (1-3 NCOSA) plays at tough conference foe Riverdale (9-2-2) Thursday, October 8. The Falcons sit atop the six-team North Central Ohio Soccer Association standings with a 3-0-1 league mark.
The Bulldogs then travel to take on always-tough Hardin County foe Kenton (7-3-2) Saturday, Oct. 10.
