Carole Tong was an Ada police dispatcher
Carole Jean Tong, 82, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020, at 8:10 a.m. at Heritage Nursing Home, Findlay.
She was born on July 13, 1938 in Ada to the late William E. and Nellie E. (Lansing) Jett. Carole first married Wilbur D. Shaw and he preceded her in death. She later married Samuel Tong on Jan. 9, 1989, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 2014.
Carole was a homemaker. She previously worked as a Home Health Aide as a Nurse Aide and she also was co-owner of Smell’s Good Inc. of Ada. She also worked in several factories: Triplett Corp. of Bluffton and RCA of Findlay and was a dispatcher for the Ada Police Department.
Carole was a lifelong member of the Grace Gospel Church of Ada. She was a graduate of Ada High School class of 1956, after graduation she took advanced Nurse’s Aide training.
She is survived by a son, Edward (Heidi) Shaw of Ada; three daughters: Jeanne (James) McKee of Ada, Darla (Ron) Dicus of Portage and Bonnie (John) Haney of Ada; a step son, Dave (Gloria) Tong of Moscow, Idaho; two step daughters: Candy Ferrante of Ft. Worth, Texas and Deanna (Don) Essinger of Bluffton; four grandchildren: Alexander McKee, Harley Shaw, Jarred Shaw and Jenna Shaw; three great grandchildren; and many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Carole was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Tiffany Haney and Cassandra McKee.
Attendance will be restricted at the funeral and visitation based on space to accommodate social distancing requirements. Face coverings must be worn while attending visitation and service.
Private family funeral services will be held at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada, with Pastor Trent Boedicker officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.
The funeral service for Carole will be live streamed on the Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services Facebook Page beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 23.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Gospel Church of Ada.
