“A Chamber Music Soirée” you may watch from home
The Ohio Northern Symphony’s fall program “A Chamber Music Soirée” features various small ensembles performing compositions written in a wide range of musical styles and from different musical periods.
“A Chamber Music Soirée” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, via livestream on www.freedcenter.com.
The program will feature the orchestra in four smaller chamber ensembles: String Orchestra, Chamber Winds, Brass and Percussion Ensemble, and Chamber Orchestra.
The String Orchestra will perform Gustav Holst’s “Brook Green Suite” along with Edvard Grieg’s “Erotik” and Wolfgang A. Mozart’s “Serenade No. 13 in G Major: Eine kleine Nachtmusik." The Chamber Winds will perform Frederick S. Converse’s “Adagio, Op. 30” and “Suite for Winds” by Esther Williamson Ballou.
The Brass and Percussion Ensemble will perform “Alla Hornpipe” from George F. Handel’s “Suite No. 2 in D Major,” Matthew Locke’s “Music for King Charles II” and Florence B. Price’s “Suite for Brasses and Piano.”
The concert will conclude with the Chamber Orchestra performing Gabriel Fauré’s “Pelléas et Mélisande,” Florence B. Price’s “Adoration” and Béla Bartók’s “Romanian Folk Dances.”
The virtual concert will be free and open to the public.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions and safety concerns, “A Chamber Music Soirée” will be streamed online. Performers have been rehearsing this semester while practicing social distancing and, when possible, wearing masks.
