Ohio Northern University has been recognized by www.CollegesofDistinction.com for the 2023-2024 academic year. Colleges of Distinction is a resource guide and consortium that honors colleges and universities throughout the United States for educational excellence.
Colleges of Distinction’s selection process comprises a sequence of in-depth research and detailed interviews with the schools, accepting only those that adhere to the "Four Distinctions": engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community, and successful outcomes.
To be named a College of Distinction, ONU demonstrated excellence in undergraduate education in such factors as student engagement, teaching excellence, outcomes-based learning, and community involvement. This evaluation process differs from those of popular college rankings publications, whose formulas grade institutions based on things like faculty salaries, endowment size and peer opinion.

On January 2, Mayor Dave Retterer made his annual report to the Village of Ada Council, as required by Ohio Revised Code - Title VII Municipal Corporations - Section 733.41. The following is his prepared speech.
The Village of Ada is composed of a variety of industries, businesses, people, of churches and opportunities. These comprise one of the many strengths of this village. An international company that could have expanded to a collection of other places chose to expand in Ada. A couple of Ada High School and University of Findlay college friends have chosen to invest in properties in Ada to build a brewery. Each of two couples from the region purchased an existing business and put their stamp on it. The pandemic caused a lot of problems for residents and the village itself. It appears that 2024 can be much better.

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band released their song Fishin’ in the Dark on June 7, 1987 and it hit number one on the country charts both in the United States and Canada. The American country rock band started in 1966 in Long Beach, California. Several artists covered the song written by Wendy Waldman and Jim Photogio. Kenny Chesney released a cover of the song with the title You and Me Go Fishing in the Dark. After Garth Brooks recorded his cover version in 2005, the number of downloads of the original song certified it as platinum.
For those who know the lyrics, you realized the song is not really about fishing or even counting the stars at night. It is too bad they were not fishing because the science about the benefits of fish in your diet is advancing.
