School board offers supplemental football coaching contract to Tobin Smith
Ada school board offered a supplemental contract to Tobin P. Smith to coach football during the 2021-22 school year. The board approved the issuance of the contract during the December board meeting held Thursday.
Smith of Urbana, is a secondary health and physical education teacher at Lima Senior and is a graduate of Wittenberg.
The varsity football coaching position became available at the resignation of Shawn Christopher this fall.
During the 2020 season Smith was associate head coach defensive coordinator at Lima Senior. From 2013 to 2019 he was head coach at Bellefontaine where his teams compiled a 46-27 record.
While he was coach at Bellefontaine he was a secondary health and physical education teacher in that school system.
From 1999-2012 he was head coach at West Liberty Salem and his teams compiled a 111-40 record.
In other school board action, Dan Lee, high school principal, reported that currently 55 students are online and 30 students will return in person for the second semester.
Superintendent Skilliter reported several items including:
• Pond maintenance is in process with the installation of an aeration system. Pump station is being quoted
• New Bus 3 is now in service
• Software for buses is being implemented and training in underway
• Overhead garage doors will be raised in January to accommodate the taller buses
• Floor company has been contracted to fix the floor in the ’86 gym and do handle annual maintenance
