Roger Young is the new fiscal officer for the Ada Public Library. Roger taught accounting at ONU from 1964-1999, so he is well-qualified for the part time library job. In addition, he has served as treasurer for many organizations in town during the past half century.

Fruit, candy, calendars, even candy canes in crochet stocking made by Jane Helser were all part of Christmas baskets prepared by the Ada Senior Citizens on Wednesday morning at Community Health Professionals.

Members of the group prepared about 40 baskets that they will deliver to home bound residents in the community.

Ada Senior Citizens will next meet at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at CHP for lunch and cards. New members are welcome to attend.

Planning is underway for the second annual Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival. It's on Super Bowl Eve, Feb. 3, 2018. Committee members from left, Mark Hilan, Sara Vordermark, Chris Burns-DiBiasio, David Dellifield, Wyn Hauenstein, David Retterer and Jack Jeffery.

John and Christina Dean sit on the steps of their home, which is nicely decorated for the holidays.

But there is much more to this story - the home at 125 E. Lincoln Ave. has undergone refurbishing this summer, and the two-story structure is one of the oldest houses in town.

Plus, a business card from the original owner was found in the flooring while working on exterior cellar doors four years ago.

Coaching staff and Ian McVey gain DIII recognition

ONU junior  All-American Ian McVey (Stow/Munroe Falls) has been named the Div. III All-Ohio Men's Runner of the Year, while the Ohio Northern coaching staff was named the Div. III All-Ohio Men's Coaching Staff of the Year.

Yesterday the Icon announced that ONU senior Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) has been named the Div. III All-Ohio Female Runner of the Year for the 2017 season.

McVey earned the honor for the first time in his career, while Maus and his staff claimed the award for the second time in the last three seasons.
