Ada Police Department recently received certification for adopting new police standards, according to Michael Harnishfeger, police chief.
"Ada police have adopted and fully implemented the new state standards established by the Ohio Collaborative Community-Police Advisory Board," said Harnishfeger. "The implementation is part of the state's efforts to strengthen community and police relations."
Ada police joins several law enforcement agencies who recently became certified by meeting standards for the use of force, including deadly force and agency recruitment and hiring.
The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce with the Chamber and Tourism Divisions of the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance will promote a summer Buy Local Week from Monday, June 20, through Sunday, June 26, with major community events in Ada, Kenton and Mt. Victory.

Byron LeRoy Gossard, 55, died on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at 6:35 p.m. at St. Ritas Medical Center Inpatient Hospice Unit, Lima.
He was born on June 2, 1960, in Lima, Ohio to Eldon R. and Cleo L. (Shaw) Gossard. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Harrod. On Feb. 5, 1994, he married Wendy R. Zimmerman and she survives in Harrod.
The 10th annual County Line Church of the Brethren car show is from noon to 3 p.m., Saturday, July 9, at the church, 4227 N. Hardin Road, Harrod.
In addition to the car show there is a chicken barbecue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Brabecue tickets are $8 each and must be ordered in advance by calling 419-649-5364.
