Meri Skilliter, Ada Schools superintendent, reads about fire trucks to the preschoolers, who were learning about transportation. She knows a thing or two about fire trucks since her husband has been a firefighter for many years. The children toured an Ada-Liberty fire truck the day before she read to them.
The annual Cambodian art auction will begin Monday at the law school.. The paintings were created by students at Phare Ponleu Selpak, a performing arts school in Battambang, and proceeds will benefit elementary students at the Cambodian school started by the People Improvement Organization.
The school provides education, books, uniforms and food to children who lived in the Phnom Penh city dump and surrounding slums.
Ohio Northern raised $160,645 on Wednesday during a Founders Day challenge. Alumni were contacted about donating to the university on what is annually celebrated as Founders Day. The goal was to gain 600 gifts. A total of 661 alumni made donations.
A Juvenile Diabetes Research Walk for a Cure will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 14 outside of the Sports Center at Ohio Northern University. The ONU Marching Band will provide a musical send-off for the walk, which will wind through campus. It is anticipated that between 100 and 200 individuals will take part in the event.
The walk is part of a larger event from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. that will include educational and fun booths and stations, as well as the ONU mobile health clinic, food vendors and games.
