MEDIA RELEASE__Ohio Northern University’s College of Arts & Sciences will welcome back distinguished alumna Dr. Carla Kim, BS ’97, for the 2026 Keiser Distinguished Lectureship in Life Sciences on Tuesday, March 24, at 7:30 p.m. The lecture, which takes place in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts, is free and open to the public.

Kim, a renowned researcher in lung stem cells, is Professor of Pediatrics in the Field of Regenerative Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital and Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School. Her presentation is titled “Lung Organoids: Windows to Mechanism and Therapy of Lung Disease and Cancer.”

Norman M. Welch, 1941-2026

Norman M. Welch, of rural Ada, died at the age of 84. Norm was born in Putnam County on August 28, 1941.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mearl and Ellen (Campbell) Welch, formerly of Mt. Cory, OH and by two brothers: Wayne (Deb) Welch and Nelson (Anne) Welch.

MEDIA RELEASE__The annual VFW Easter Egg Hunt will begin at noon on Saturday, March 21 with a rain date of March 28.

Doors open for registration.

Noon
Hunt for candy-filled eggs by age groups.

A coloring contest will be held. Pages should be turned in by noon for judging. Prizes for one boy and one girl for each age group will be awarded.

Free hot dog, chips and juice will be provided for participants.

Donations to support this event are welcome.

MEDIA RELEASE__Our Lady of Lourdes, 300 E. Highland, will be hosting a Fish Fry on Friday, March 27 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. or until sold out. Hosted by Men of the Parish.

Both dine-in and carryout will be available. The cost is $10 for a 2-piece meal and $8 for a 1-piece meal.
