Eugene Wright was a 4-H advisor for over 20 years
Eugene Wright, 71, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021, at 8:05 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born on January 19, 1950, in Kenton, Ohio, to the late Okie and Alta (Puckett) Wright. On Dec. 21, 1969, Eugene married Karen Meeker and she survives in Harrod.
Eugene retired from Proctor & Gamble after working for over 20 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Eugene was an advisor for over 20 years for the Allen County Junior Horseman 4-H Club. He was a member of the A.Q.H.A. Eugene was referred to as the last “Real Cowboy,” and Eugene was a life time mentor to others. He was a loving husband, father, Papa and Great Papa.
Also surviving his three sons: Lucas (Jennelle) Wright of Harrod, Levi Wright of Harrod and Cody (Brittany) Wright of Ada; five grandchildren: Abby (Cody) McGinnis, Lacey Wright, Dallas Wright, Hailey Roach and Amelia Wright; two great grandchildren: Esabella McGinnis and Macklin McGinnis; and two sisters: Kathy (Ronald) Roop of Uniopolis and Erma Stevens of Harrod.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Wright and sister, Anita Amstutz.
Attendance will be restricted at the funeral and visitation based on space to accommodate social distancing requirements. Face coverings must be worn while attending visitation and service.
Private family services will be held at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada. Burial will be in Fisher Cemetery, Harrod.
The funeral service for Eugene will be live streamed on the Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services Facebook Page beginning at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 8, at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada
Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County Horse Council.
