Ada netters edged by Roughriders

ST. MARYS - The visiting Ada tennis team lost a close 3-2 match at St. Marys Thursday evening.
The Bulldog netters fell to 4-6 overall with the tough defeat, while SM improved to 6-3 with the victory.
Ada senior Miranda Wills improved to 6-4 this season at first singles with a blowout double bagel win over Kameron Maclean.
"Miranda Wills expertly defeated Kameron Maclean in a mismatch as Kameron played first singles for the first time all year," said Ada head coach Dexter Woods.
Bulldog junior southpaw Dexter Woods III lost a tough match at number two singles to drop to 8-2 this spring.
"Dexter's match was the longest match of the evening and he welcomed the opportunity to gain valuable experience against a player who played first singles all year until the Ada match," said his father/coach.
Ada junior Brendan Jameson won his third consecutive match at third singles over Ahett Chisolm in two sets, after pulling away from a tight 4-4 first set.
"Brendan did an excellent job figuring out his opponent, and reeled off eight straight games to put away the first set and to win the second set in shutout fashion," said Woods.
Seniors Cole Anspaugh and Colton Biederman were defeated at first doubles by Correy Nelson and Preston Wilson 6-3, 6-1.
"Cole and Colton showed good life in the first set before losing their momentum in the second," reported Woods.
At second doubles, the Ada sophomore duo of Amelia Alexander and Geddes Klingler lost in straight sets.
"Amelia and Geddes displayed flashes of good tennis, but were not able to continue their winning ways from their last match against Lima Senior," said Woods.
Bulldogs Connor Daugherty and Brendan Kah played in a trio of exhibition matches versus St. Marys opponents, with scores of 4-2, 1-4, and 4-2.
Individual match results:
1st singles: Miranda Wills (Ada) defeated Kameron Maclean (SM) 6-0, 6-0
2nd singles: Joey Vanderhorst (SM) def. Dexter Woods (Ada) 6-3, 6-3

The Bulldogs are 2-3 on the road this season, 2-0 at neutral sites (Westwood) and 0-3 at home.
