Ada tennis sweeps WBL Wapak
By Cort Reynolds
LIMA - The Ada tennis team whitewashed Wapakoneta 5-0 indoors at the Westwood Tennis and Fitness Club Thursday night.
The match was moved from the outdoor Ada park courts to indoors at Lima due to expected high winds and rain.
The Bulldog netters evened their record at 2-2 after their second consecutive victory. Ada won the match without dropping a set, including two forfeits.
"The players enjoyed playing in the wind-free indoor courts at Westwood," said Ada head coach Dexter Woods. "The match featured many exciting points and good effort from both sides.
"In each of the contested positions, Ada got off to a fast start in the first set, and Wapak fought back well in the second set to tighten the matches," he added.
Ada senior Miranda Wills upped her season record to 2-2 with a routine win at first singles.
Bulldog junior southpaw Dexter Woods III improved to 4-0 at second singles with a straight-sets victory.
Senior Cole Anspaugh picked up a win by forfeit at third singles.
Ada junior Brendan Jameson teamed up with sophomore Amelia Alexander at first doubles to win handily over their Redskin competition.
