Ada's 2021-22 school year has time changes
Ada schools announce a new starting time and ending time for the school day for the 2021-22 school year.
The announcement was made on the school website on Friday. The announcement follows:
Through an examination of our school procedures and through feedback we have received over the years, a recommendation was made to the Board of Education at the March 18, 2021, planning session to change the start and end of our school day beginning in the 2021-22 school year.
The recommendation was made to change our school day hours to 8:05 a.m. to 3 p.m. for all students in grades K-12.
There will be one dismissal time for all students. Teaching staff hours will be adjusted to 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
The school doors will open for students at 7:45 a.m.
The reasons for the recommended change follows:
• Adds 100 minutes of additional instruction time each week for grades K-3 by eliminating the earlier dismissal time
• Eliminates safety and supervision issues for families of our K-3 town students to have a common end time
• Benefits student athletes and students in extracurricular activities through less lost class time due to early dismissal to get to events on time that a 3:30 p.m. schedule creates
• Decreases likelihood of teams being late to games because they are waiting for bus drivers to get back from routes to take athletic trips
