Bulldog boys comeback falls to late Knight burst

ADA - The homestanding Ada baseball team rallied from a five-run deficit but lost 11-7 to Crestview in a seesaw Northwest Conference baseball contest Monday evening.
The Bulldog record fell to 5-8 (1-4 NWC) with the tough defeat. The Knights improved to 8-5 and 3-3 in NWC play with the win.
Crestview led 4-0 going to the bottom of the third inning. But the Bulldogs plated two runs in the home half of the third to cut the deficit in half.
The Knights pulled back in front 7-2 before Ada knotted the score with a five-run rally in the bottom of the fifth.
However, Crestview answered by plating four runs in the top of the seventh to pull off the victory.
Senior Cameron Bober hit a double, singled and drove in two runs for Ada. Junior Tyler Jameson knocked in three runs with one hit.
Sophomore Spencer Wall hit a double and scored a run. Jacob Sutherly collected two RBI with one hit.
Ada senior Trent Ennis walked twice and scored a run. Sophomore Roman Snyder compiled two hits and scored a run. Senior Devon Cole added a hit and one run.
Crestview narrowly out-hit Ada, 9-8.
Logan Gerardot led the Knights with two hits, including a double, and three RBI. Nathan Lichtle and Trevor Sheets each knocked in two runs for the victors.
On the mound for the Knights, Tyler Hart and Sheets combined to strike out 11 Bulldogs. Sheets earned the win by pitching the final three innings.
The Bulldogs committed four errors while the Knights played error-less defense.

Ada plays a non-league game at Fostoria (2-7) Tuesday, April 27.
The Bulldogs then visit league title contender Paulding (11-4, 5-1 NWC) for a conference battle Thursday, April 29. The Panthers edged Delphos Jefferson 3-2 Monday in an NWC pitcher's duel.
