Mike Barnes was retired from Westinghouse
Michael W. “Mike” Barnes, 76, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2021, at 9:20 a.m. at his residence in Harrod.
He was born on June 30, 1944, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Dale W. and Jeanette (Drury) Barnes. On May 29, 1964, Mike married the love of his life Carolyn A. Plummer and she survives in Harrod.
Also surviving are three sons: Todd Barnes, Vance Barnes and Travis Barnes all of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Jennifer (Matt) Brinkman of Harrod; six grandchildren: Cody (Kylie) Brinkman, Michaela Brinkman, Hunter Brinkman, Ellis Barnes, Madison Barnes and Olivia Barnes; two great grandchildren: Braxton and Kaylene; a brother, Dennis (Debbi) Barnes of Lima; and a sister, Pamela (Steve) Moore of Harrod.
Mike retired from Westinghouse of Lima, where he worked as an electrician. He was also a self-employed contractor and a lifelong farmer. Mike served in the U.S. National Guard. He was a member of the Harrod Christian Church. Mike was a member of the NRA, served as a 4-H Advisor, and a former board member of the Harrod Community Center. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, woodworker, gun show enthusiast and member of the Tri-County Gun Show. Mike loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 25, at Crossroads Church of God, 775 Thayer Road, Lima, with Pastor Brian Robertson officiating.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 24, at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice and/or the NRA.
