ST. MARYS__The visiting Ada High School boys soccer team lost a 1-0 battle of unbeatens to St. Marys on Thursday, Aug. 27.
Ada boys fell to 3-1 after the close defeat. St. Marys improved to 4-0 with the hard-fought win.
“We lost but I thought we played well,” said Ada head coach Aaron Acheson. “We had a defensive breakdown early in the first half that they took advantage of. Their player got a shot off from around the six-yard line, high to the near post, and found the back of the net.”
Neither team was able to score after intermission, as well as for most of the first half.
The 10th Annual Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival–MIAWFF in Icon shorthand–on Saturday, August 22 was a rock and roll celebration of all things football in Ada, Ohio. Participant feedback suggests that the festival has gotten bigger and better every year, thanks to the efforts of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce.

FT. JENNINGS__The visiting Ada High School girls soccer team used a big second half to defeat Fort Jennings 3-1 in a non-league match on Wednesday, August 26.
The Bulldog girls improved to 4-0-1 with the one-sided road victory.
FJ dropped to 1-3 after the loss.
Ada junior Rose Baxter netted two goals to pace the offense. Senior Kenley Poling scored the other goal, and assisted one of Baxter’s tallies. Junior Avary Acheson doled out the other Bulldog assist.
The game was tied 0-0 at the half before Ada exploded for three second-half scores to secure the win.

On June 10, 1971, Marvin Gaye released his hit Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology), which was the most popular song at the time to talk about the environment. The song was on his second album, What’s Going On. The song hit #4 on the Billboard Top 100 chart and crossed over to the Adult Contemporary chart, hitting number 34. After his tragic death in 1984, Mercy Mercy Me was his third single to be listed in the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002.
