Part 6 of the Icon's recycling series

Where can you take items that your curbside recycling will not take? There are a surprising number of items that are recyclable, which Ada's curbside recycling service does not currently accept.

There may be additional locations in Ada where recycled items may be collected. If any of these are omitted from this story, please notify us at [email protected] and we will add that information.

Here is a list of the more common items that can be recycled elsewhere:

OLD FORT - The visiting Ada boys soccer team defeated Old Fort 4-1 Thursday evening.

Sophomore Jacob Poling scored three goals to pace the Bulldogs to victory, which upped their record to 2-2.

Junior Skylar Williams added the other goal.

Jon Allen, Isaac Spar, Brendan Sheridan and William Jolliff each registered an assist for Ada.

Junior keeper Drew Hadley made 10 saves in goal.

Ada (1-2 home) plays host to NCOSA foe Cory-Rawson Thursday, September 13. Their NWC match at Spencerville scheduled for August 25 was postponed.

The Bulldog reserves host Lincolnview Sept. 4.

Talk about the perks of having great neighbors. When the Polar Bears take to the field on Saturday evening, they will be one of only three schools in the country that get to use the newest Wilson football, the Wilson GST Prime, before its release.

Saturday's Contest: Ohio Northern will kickoff its 124th season of football on Saturday in the season opener of the 2018 season for both teams. ONU is 533-492-36 in his first 123 seasons, a winning percentage of .518. ONU is 19-5 in its last 24 season openers and is 65-53-5 all-time in its 123 previous season openers.

ONU Head Coach Dean Paul: Paul is in his 15th season at ONU with a 96-48 record. Paul is ONU's all-time winningest coach in ONU football history. He is 135-60 in 18 seasons overall and is 1-0 against AC.

AC head coach Jim Deere: Deere is in his 9th season at AC with a 52-30 record. He is 0-1 against ONU.

Lee Crouse passed this photograph on to the Icon. It's Sherri Wince, who was the first-ever Harvest and Herb Festival queen. The year was 1986.

The queen candidates that year, in addition to Sherri, were Debbie West, Kerri Reiter, Bridgett Sutherly, Jane Napier and LeAnn Compton.

Take a good look at Jane Helser's hands. These hands created more Super Bowl footballs than anyone in the world. She's attended 10 Super Bowls and prior to retiring worked 48 years at Wilson's. The Icon caught up with her at Saturday's Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival. If you don't know Jane, click on the next photo.
