Claypool named interim superintendent
The Ada Exempted Village School posted the following message from the new interim superintendent, Larry Claypool, on September 21. It appears on https://www.ada.k12.oh.us/Superintendent
"Hello Ada Bulldog Students, Parents and Community Members,
My name is Larry Claypool and I am very excited to introduce myself to you as your district’s current Interim Superintendent. I’d like to take a few minutes and share a little about who I am, where I’ve been and how I came to be part of the Ada school system. I’m honored to be working with a seasoned board of education, an outstanding administration, a veteran teaching and support staffs, and especially our excellent students.
The reason I am excited about coming to Ada stemmed from my wife Christina and our previous connection a decade ago to Hardin County during my tenure as Superintendent at Hardin Northern Local Schools. Christina and I have often reminisced that those were wonderful memories spent in and around Ada.
Regarding my background, I was born and raised in Van Wert, Ohio, and moved to Dallas, Texas, in 1979 while pursuing a business career. During that time, I completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Education at the University of North Texas and also enjoyed attending classes at Dallas Theological Seminary. I returned to Ohio in the late 90s, taught special education SBH-SED classes with the Western Buckeye ESC, and completed a Master’s Degree in Education at the University of Dayton, along with obtaining Principal/Superintendent administrative credentials through the University of Findlay.
Administratively, I served as the Director of Student Services for the Western Buckeye ESC, as Principal at Continental Local Schools, Superintendent at Hardin Northern, and completed my years as an educator as Superintendent at Hardin-Houston Local School retiring from there in 2019.
Missing the fulfillment of working with staff and students, in October of 2019 I accepted a part-time position as a supervisor for the Miami County ESC and continue to work with local school districts there. My wife, Christina and I live in Troy, Ohio, and I make the drive to Ada almost daily.
In closing, I feel truly blessed for this opportunity to serve you at Ada Schools. If you see me out in public or at a school event, please come up and introduce yourself. I’d like to meet you!
Go Bulldogs!!!
Larry Claypool"
