Ada HS football plays Crestview October 15

By Cort Reynolds

The Ada High School football team plays league foe at Crestview Friday, October 15 as both try to break losing skids.

Crestview (5-3, 2-3 NWC) lost a 29-28 nailbiter to visiting Spencerville last Friday. The Knights are rated ninth in the Div. VII, Region 26 rankings, putting them firmly in playoff position despite losing their last two contests.

Ada (1-7, 0-5 NWC) is 21st in Region 26 afer losing five in a row.

"Crestview will be a tough game," said Bulldog head coach Toby Smith. "They are a very sound football team. We are going to have to improve on the defensive side of the ball if we are going to have a chance to compete.

"But our biggest competition is against ourself. We have to learn how to compete every snap."

The Knights feature a balanced offense between pass and run. "They do a good job mixing it up," said Smith. "They do not run anything unusual."

Crestview streaked out of the gate by winning five of their first six games, but then lost to Columbus Grove and Spencerville to drop out of league title contention. The Knights average 24.4 points per game and allow 24.6 ppg.

Ada is 1-4 on the road while the Knights are 2-1 at home this season.

Crestview beat Ada 63-12 in their last meeting on October 18, 2019 and have taken the last three games between the two. The Bulldogs last beat the Knights 27-26 at War Memorial Stadium in 2016. Ada also won by a point in 2015 at Convoy, 14-13.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday.
