ADA - The host Ada tennis team beat Marion Harding 3-2 Monday evening at the park courts to celebrate Senior Day in style.
Senior netters Miranda Wills, Colton Biederman and Cole Anspaugh were all recognized after the win as the parents held a post-match dinner in the park.
The Bulldog net record improved to 7-7 with the victory. Ada won all three singles matches without dropping a game as the teams played through drizzle early on in the match that started an hour late.
At Monday's special meeting the Ada Board of Education approved Vince Halliday as the new head boys' basketball coach.
He replaces Jon Cook who was hired in October, 2020, as varsity boys' coach following the resignation of Drew White earlier in October. White coached at Ada for three seasons.
Halliday brings with him many years of basketball coaching experience. He has spent the past 14 seasons as the head coach of the girls' basketball program at Lima Senior, where he is a teacher. He leaves the Lady Spartans as the career leader in coaching wins.
"Halliday is a strong leader with much head coaching experience," said Eric Perkins, Ada athletic director.
Ada Icon spring intern,
Mana Hashimoto's
ONU capstone project
Mana Hashimoto, a spring 2021 Ohio Northern University intern for the Ada Icon, created this video.
Her video is a senior capstone project. Its focus is on clothing Mana wears in the U.S. versus what she wears in Japan. She's taken a humorous approached – we think – by not showing her face.
Mana is a senior writing and multimedia studies major, from Mie, Japan. Following graduatation she hopes to return to Japan where she will look for full-time employment in her profession.
