KENTON - Hardin County Student Leaders-United met on Wednesday, Dec 4 at Kenton High School. This is the third meeting for the 2024-25 school year. The group of 24 selected Sophomores meets monthly to develop their leadership skills and learn more about charitable organizations within Hardin County. 

Quest Federal Credit Union led the students in the “Game of Life.”  This program came is a collaboration of participants in the 2023 Hardin Leadership class and the United Way of Hardin County. Lunch was provided for the students by Moore than Just BBQ and Graphic Packaging.

Kirby Marinette-Lyndlee Hamlin, 7 months, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024.

Kirby was born on April 24, 2024 in Lima, Ohio to her parents Michael and Oksana (Shaw) Hamlin.

She is survived by her parents; three brothers: Dylan, Dante and Meyrick; paternal grandmother, Brenda Hamlin; maternal grandparents: Lynda and Edward Pitt; great grandparents: Rosie Mortensen, Jess Lightner, and Carolyn and Bill Shaw; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. 

Kirby was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Rick Hamlin; and maternal grandfather, Blake Shaw. 

Private family services will be held. 

From Ada Exempted Village Schools

The 4th=5th Grade Musical "Dear Santa" will be performed today, Thursday, December 5, in the auditorium at 1:45 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.  

Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Please park in the back (North Ave. entrance).  

The performance will also be live-streamed at 1:45 p.m. on https://www.facebook.com/adabulldogs/

John & Toni's Restaurant/Lounge LLC has announced new hours effective December 5. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, the business will open at 11:00 a.m., with no breakfast offerings. On Friday and Saturday mornings the restaurant will open at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast service.

Ohio Northern University has announced that all Lima shows are SOLD OUT for the Holiday Spectacular. If available, tickets will be sold at the Civic Center Will Call window prior to every performance (Decmeber 6-8). This is the 29th year for performances in Lima.

The Village Of Ada Council held a regular meeting on December 3, 2024, with Mayor Dave Retterer presiding and all council members present: Jeff Oestreich (president), Bob Simmons, Jason Campbell, Linda Mason, Sheila Coressel and Sean Beck. The meeting agenda and packet is HERE

At the meeting, council passed resolutions to allow the establishment of electricity and natural gas aggregation programs for customers within the Village of Ada. Council also approved a cost of living increase for the Village’s non-union employees. Council is preparing to increase water rates to keep up with water expenses and discussed updating the associated ordinance with specific rates rather than as a percentage increase.
