What began as an idea to build a residence hall on the campus of Glen Oaks Community College more than two years ago is now a reality.
The grand opening of the David H. and Patricia A. Devier Student Suites took place on the southwest Michigan campus on Friday. The Deviers are former Ada residents.
The project is the first student housing project at the college, a $6.5 million investment in the college, students, St. Joseph County and the southwest Michigan region.
The three-story facility has two- and four-bedroom suites (108 beds in all), and is the first such project in Michigan to be funded by a USDA Rural Development loan.
You won't find this plate on any vehicle. It was presented to Tyler Hochstetler, Bluffton police sergeant, in 2016 by the MADD of Allen-Hancock-Putnam counties for the number of DUI arrests he made. It's hanging on his office wall.
